In 2022, on the eve of the installation of a second Marcos president in Malacañang, veterans from the first Marcos-period gathered at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani to do two things: one, to draw strength from each other in taking a vow never again to accept tyranny; and two, to pass on the hard-earned lessons of their generation’s struggle to today’s young generation so that they, too, will defend their and their country’s rights against an abusive government.
The year has passed quickly. The oath-takers remain firm; and their vow stands. Never again to tyranny. Fight tyranny!
